Zero Waste Center

Printer-friendly version

By setting up a Zero Waste Center, Sahjeevan envisages that the least amount of waste reaches the municipal landfill site. On the basis of a study conducted by the organisation, it was reported that 68% waste generated in the city comprises of wet/kitchen waste, which can be used as cattle feed or as manure. 30% waste generated comprises of recyclables, which can be taken away by the bhangarwalas/waste segregators and can help them in generating income for livelihood. Only 2% waste generated in the city thus belongs to the landfill site.
