Developing effective linkages between citizens and local government for improved self governance
The people must work with the government to bring about transparency within the grants and expenses used in urban development. Workshops are given to sensitize the public about the importance of filing their taxes, what they are used for, and how the benefit from doing so. Town hall meetings are used to open the dialogue between the municipality and citizens.
The public needs to be aware of what actually is in the prevue of their government officials, so that they can also hold the officials accountable. At the same time the public needs to be accountable and responsible for their rights. Conversations need to occur between the public and the municipality to insure that people are paying their taxes, and the services they are paying for are being given to them.
Area committees are set up to be support groups, in dealing with the government and working towards development.
